Responsibilities

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

As an Assistant Test Supervisor, you will play a vital role in supporting the Test Supervisor in managing workloads, maintaining standards, and ensuring all assembly and testing activities are carried out safely, on time, and in accordance with Sulzer’s processes and quality standards. This is a key position for someone looking to take the next step in their career in a fast-paced, engineering-driven environment.

YOUR MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deputise for the Test Supervisor as needed and help coordinate daily workloads.
  • Monitor project delivery timelines, reporting status and any issues to the Supervisor.
  • Support completion and tracking of NCRs and ensure documentation is accurate.
  • Liaise with Engineering, Projects, Inspection, and QESH departments.
  • Ensure risk assessments and safety procedures are completed, current, and followed.
  • Provide technical support and assist in resolving test/assembly-related issues.
  • Promote and adhere to lean initiatives such as 5S, RFT, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure staff have received appropriate training and that PPE and safety standards are maintained.
  • Encourage safe environmental practices and ensure effective use of resources.

TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED

  • An apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong industry experience, with knowledge of mechanical assembly and testing processes.
  • A solid understanding of industry practices, safety standards, and risk assessments.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Effective time management and the ability to act independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Competence in using computers for documentation and process monitoring.
