We have been awarded a contract to deliver for Western Australia’s $1.6 billion Railcar Program. As part of the project we will design, manufacture and maintain 246 new railcars needed for METRONET projects and the replacement of the A-series trains. We will also deliver 6 DMU railcars to replace the Australind service between Perth and Bunbury.
We are currently seeking a Test Engineer for executing Train level Validation activities in accordance with Alstom internal rules, project needs and contract requirements.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
- Experienced Engineer in railway including experience in testing/validation of rolling stock and its subsystems
- Functional test execution capabilities on domains such as:Train network, TCMS software functions, TCMS electrical functions, Traction, Braking, Auxiliary supply and energy management, Doors, PACIS, Signaling etc.
- Experience in TCMS development and/or validation.
- Knowledge of electrical vs software design on the train.
- Physical test execution capabilities on domains such as: Aerodynamics / air passage, Dimensional & gauge, Electromagnetic Compatibility, Acoustics / noise, Railway dynamics, Weight management & allocation, Climatic comfort, Winterization, climatic adaptation, Smoke detection / Fire protection system, Horn & headlights etc.
- Ability to define, create and maintain test benches
- Software Validation
- Good IT knowledge and skills (MS Office)

Responsibilities:
The Test Engineer writes the Train Type Test procedures, carries out type, validation, or investigation tests, and prepares Type Test Reports. Additionally, the role;
- Defines and implements the most appropriate testing methodology and means of testing and develops test operating modes and analyzes test results
- Participates in the design and the development of the tools necessary for performing the tests
- Implements, verifies (functional) and ensures compliance (calibration) of the measuring equipment to be ready at the time of the test
- Prepares the equipment for testing
- Respects EHS rules notably implementing LockOutTagOut instruction.
- Supervises and/or executes test activities, analyzes test results ‘live” and decides if test has to be redone or not
- Test results data analysis, writing static and dynamic test reports
