TEST ENGINEER - POSITION DETAILS:

Become part of the TDK Canada team and enjoy working on exciting leading-edge navigation technologies for mobile phones, vehicles and other platforms. We are looking for an energetic, self-motivated and fast learning test analyst/engineer who will be responsible for testing software related to next generation indoor location/tracking and vehicle location products.
We are looking for someone who is diligent in testing details, can identify performance bugs in the field, follows direction well, has strong communication skills, is capable to travel to customer sites, can organize data efficiently, can prepare reports and is able to modify/develop software assessment tools/scripts. Physical data collection and travel is part of the job; walking, running, biking and driving are all requirements of the position, and it’s expected that the candidate is in appropriate physical shape.

Tasks may include:

  • Testing and analysis of real-time INS + GNSS vehicle navigation software performance.
  • Testing, surveying, and analysis of real-time and post-mission indoor consumer tracking software using smartphones.
  • Testing and analysis of real-time INS + GNSS mobile robot navigation software performance.
  • Implementation of test procedures and plans.
  • Assessment tool development in C, Matlab and Python.
  • Must be able to build/flash software on various development platforms such as Android phones, iPhones, embedded vehicle platforms, Linux systems, etc.
  • Data assessment and preparation of reports in MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word format.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and think out of the box.
  • Candidate must be capable of driving and has a valid driver’s licence with clean driver’s history.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • A BSc degree in Geomatics (preferable), Electrical and Computer Engineering, Software engineering, Computer Science, or other related disciplines.
  • Fast learning capability. Most of what you are required to know will be learned in the first 1-2 months on the job.
  • High attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office user (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Comfortable in Matlab and /or Python programming and Google Earth.
  • Physically fit as the job may require walking/running/driving over the day.
  • Excellent communication skills. Strong English writing skills and clear presentation skills.
  • Ability to read, analyse, write and interpret technical reports and manuals.
  • Valid driver’s licence.
  • Ability to travel on short notice.
  • Ability to work overtime when required.
  • Must be able to work in a small and dynamic team environment.
  • Must have a legal working status in Canada (such as Citizenship, Permanent residence or work permit).
