Description

Interpretation of qualification and mechanical verification test plans in order to:

  • Define a test strategy and plan.
  • Generate work packages and estimate the cost to deliver said plan, including identification and engagement with internal and external suppliers.
  • Deliver the work packages to time and budget.
  • Be proactive to progress parts through the different test stages.
  • Ensure all Environmental Tests are carried out to the required National and International standards as appropriate.
  • Accurately and impartially observe, record and report on test activities.
  • Maintain a safe working environment during all work activities and contribute to the identification of process improvement opportunities.
  • Develop bespoke solutions to provide the test requirements for the test plan.
  • Verify new test jigs, perform vibration analysis and resonance searches.
  • Programme chambers and shaker systems, verify new test profiles.
  • Identify, procure, install and commission new test capability when required.
  • Preparation of technical documentation including user instructions
Responsibilities

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To carry out various environmental tests such as thermal shock, humidity and temperature cycling amongst others. May require travel to our other sites across the UK to use their facilities, or outside of Leonardo at external test houses.
Support the design, development and through-life support of electro-optical test equipment and test processes for the company’s range of Infrared Detectors, from initial product development through to volume production.
Typical test equipment will include optical, thermal and electronic components as well as test software. Although not expected to be an expert in all these areas the role will require hands on activity, therefore a wide knowledge and proven experience is desired.
