Description

Develops and applies test methods and procedures for the evaluation of new and updated embedded control solutions for HVAC equipment, assuring reliable normal operations and full coverage for fault state operations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree (B. A. / B. S.) from four-year college or university; or four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, HVACR Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
Valid licensed driver for independent travel to job sites as may be required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Operational knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, preferably specific knowledge and experience with AAON equipment.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of electrical or electronic systems, voltage, current, resistance, capacitance, inductance, relays, and the like.
  • Ability to read and comprehend machine wiring diagrams.
  • Ability to appropriately utilize a DVM in system troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership abilities.
  • Communicates effectively in written and spoken form.
  • Exhibits good decision making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrates strong multi-tasking capabilities and organizational skills.
  • Works with minimal supervision.
  • Works effectively in a team environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel. Able to adapt to and utilize various testing tools as may be required.
  • Works effectively in a fast-paced high-pressure environment.
  • Some travel is expected for this position. This is subject to change according to business needs.

Responsibilities
  • Uses knowledge of HVAC system operations to assist in planning and establishing system requirements for new product development and updates to existing product.
  • Detect, document, and track software and system defects, and collaborate with development teams to resolve issues.
  • Develops test methods, procedures and applications to validate HVAC control system operations.
  • Identifies potential failure modes for HVAC control systems and validates proper handling in fault state conditions.
  • Documents operations, writes test procedures, and assists in developing user manuals.
  • Provides front line technical support internally to the technical support group and directly to customers, shielding direct contact with development engineers where possible.
  • Manages time with minimal oversight on multiple concurrent projects.
  • Maintains product and company reputation by complying with company policies including confidentiality and compliance with federal, state, and industry regulations.
  • Advances professional and technical knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reviewing new and upcoming HVAC system requirements, reviewing professional publications, and utilizing web-based resources.
  • Review project plans for potential issues, potentially providing recommendations for methods of resolution.
  • Assist other engineers as may be required on various projects.
