This role defines requirements for new test and integration equipment and supports the design, layout, fabrication, and validation of custom tooling and test systems. The Test Engineer applies technical judgment to support product development, manufacturing operations, laboratory infrastructure, and continuous system performance improvements. * Integrate mechanical, electrical, vacuum, cooling, shielding, and related subsystems into fully functional systems and assemblies * Support system commissioning, including validation, performance verification, data analysis, and documentation of results * Perform technical analysis, calculations, and evaluation of operating conditions to assess system performance and compliance with specifications * Troubleshoot system-level issues and contribute to root cause investigations and corrective actions to improve reliability and performance * Maintain, calibrate, and ensure readiness of test and integration equipment * Conduct tests and experiments to improve existing products, systems, and related infrastructure, and support development of new capabilities   What you need to succeed… * Embraces and models the Niowave Core Values of Teamwork, Courage, Integrity, and Upright Zeal * Understands how to integrate into a new team/organization - appreciates the current state of systems and processes and exercises sound judgment in proposing and implementing improvements * Understands personal communication and learning styles and adapts approach to connect effectively with others * Effectively manages multiple priorities simultaneously while meeting deadlines * Displays ownership and accountability for assigned systems and their performance outcomes * Demonstrates creative and excellent problem solving and decision-making skills with ability to critically interpret and use data to manage risk * Associate’s degree or equivalent technical training in engineering technology, mechanical engineering, electronics, or related field * 4+ years of relevant technical experience, including: * Interpretation and execution of mechanical assembly drawings and bills of materials. * Interpretation and execution of general diagrams and basic electrical schematics (P&ID experience preferred) * Application of general industrial safety procedures and practices * Technical writing * Non-routine, non-production manufacturing or technical environment. * Integrating mechanical and electrical subsystems into operational equipment or technical systems * Supporting and executing system-level testing, validation, troubleshooting, or commissioning activities Great to have… * 7+ years of relevant technical experience in a prototype, test, manufacturing, or laboratory environment * Formal training/application of Project Management * Working knowledge of electrical systems * Experience with: * Vacuum systems and leak detection * Cooling systems and laboratory infrastructure systems * Equipment and tools associated with chemistry and/or radioactive processes * Working in cleanroom or controlled environments   Other things to know… * Full-time position * Niowave’s standard operating hours are Monday – Friday 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. with production related activities requiring 24/7/365 shifts * This position will have regular working hours Monday – Friday with an expectation of adjusting working hours outside the standard hours to meet operational requirements * Niowave has multiple locations within the Lansing area and travel between locations is expected in the role     Please provide a cover letter specifically describing the nature of your background and experience as it relates to this position.
