QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum Bachelor of Engineering Degree from an accredited university of good standing or equivalent.
  • Mechatronic, Electrical, or Mechanical; a strong electrical background preferred.
  • Electro-mechanical equipment/product experience – automation, design and hands on assembly considered an asset.
  • Experience with hydraulics, and pneumatics considered an asset.
  • Programming, sensor, and PC datalogging integration on various product technologies in a product development environment is an asset.
  • Sound knowledge of product validation techniques/processes and definition of product requirements.
  • Experience working on vehicles/equipment an asset.
  • Excellent communication.

Responsibilities
  • Ensuring all reliability testing satisfies VMAC’s product development requirements.
  • Track all product validation testing against the latest functional requirements and ensure testing is planned and executed to prove product performance has been achieved: ensure IUT’s are fully characterized.
  • Develop and perform tests to meet product development’s quality and timeline requirements.
  • Analyze designs through failure modes effects analysis (FMEA) and other tools and document as required.
  • Demonstrate that designs meet requirements through analysis, development, and validation processes.
  • Manufacture and assemble prototypes of new products.
  • Create technical documentation using SolidWorks, MS Office, EPDM, etc.
  • Create test reports, SR&ED reports, documentation pertaining to R&D field trials, and keep accurate records on all projects.
  • Work with the senior lead and engineering designers to develop a validation plan to satisfy the product’s technical requirements.
  • Ensure testing capacity and capability is planned for and maintained to meet product rollout and validation plans.
  • Estimate test facility cost requirements, operating costs, and plan the expansion of capabilities based on cost benefit analysis and support definition of project budgets as requested.
  • As necessary, manage outsourced testing and evaluations to ensure product development testing plans are met and reliability is characterized.
  • Make technical recommendations for improvements in design for reliability.
  • Plan all testing tasks and activities.
  • Mitigate risks and issues throughout the duration of testing and validation projects.
  • Monitor and report on progress and status of multiple testing programs.
  • Continually strive to improve test planning and development processes.
  • Manages and organizes inventory of testing tools and tested components and products.
  • Maintenance of all test equipment; including repairing and calibration, and safety certification as necessary.
  • Document safe-working instructions for test equipment.
  • On a case-by-case basis, lead construction of production test stands, and support analysis of field failures/returns as part of the CAPA process.
  • Other duties as required.
