Position: Lab Technician Division: Hand Tools & Storage | Global Test Labs Location: Taichung Position Overview: Within the Hand Tools & Storage division of Stanley Black & Decker we are currently looking for a Lab Technician to join our Global Test Lab. In this role, you will have the opportunity to perform a wide range of testing to qualify or analyze product performance. Major Responsibilities: Perform a wide range of testing to qualify and analyze product performance Identify product failures Utilize Instrumentation or Data Acquisition (DAQ) and Analysis systems for product testing Write concise technical reports Work closely with Design and Project Engineers Maintain test lab facilities, equipment, fixtures, and electronic panels for product qualification testing Position Requirements: High School Diploma Good mechanical and/or electrical aptitude Minimum 3 years’ experience - 5 years preferred (“hands on”) in applied instrumentation using a wide variety of transducers (accelerometers, pressure transducers, load cells, torque sensors, strain gages, LVDTs, etc.) A working knowledge of MS Word and Excel Good communications skills; written and oral Preferred Qualifications: AS in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering Technology Familiarity using Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) or LabVIEW data acquisition (DAQ) and analysis software or DAQ using Digital Oscilloscopes Familiarity with working on new product development projects Familiar with mechanical testing of materials (Stress/Strain) Familiarity with wood working and wood construction Experience working on or maintaining PCs and Windows operating systems Familiarity with safety standards/product liability Basic machine shop skills (operation of drill presses, milling machines, and lathes) Knowledge in electronics (work experience, academic, or hobby) Vibration or sound testing and analysis experience High energy Work Environment: This job operates in an office/laboratory environment. The work environment is 100% indoors. Noise level is moderate. Ear/Eye Protection necessary when tests are running.
