Description

We're seeking an experienced and strategic Test Manager to take on a key leadership role within our Software Quality Assurance (SQA) team. Reporting to the Head of SQA, this role is responsible for leading the end-to-end testing function, setting the technical roadmap for quality engineering and driving the evolution of our test automation capability, frameworks and methodologies. As a leader within SQA, you will mentor and develop testing professionals, shape a high performing and scalable team and drive best practices across the software delivery lifecycle. You'll play a critical role in ensuring our solutions meet the highest standards of quality, reliability and performance. Working closely with Engineering, Product and Delivery leaders, you will act as the bridge between technical execution and business outcomes influencing decisions, managing risk and ensuring successful delivery across complex, mission-critical projects. You'll also drive innovation through modern testing approaches, including automation, performance testing and emerging technologies such as AI, positioning Ocean at the forefront of quality engineering. What You’ll Need to Have Essential * Bachelor in IT or Computer Science or equivalent * Must have ISTQB Foundation (or equivalent) * 10 Years overall Testing or Development experience with proven experience in the SDLC. * With 3-5 years’ experience in people management, coaching, mentoring, and building high performing teams * With 3+ years’ experience in building and driving organizational test automation transformation * Must have developed Test Automation capability within organizations * Experience in TDD and experience in developing in-sprint automation capability * Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment * Excellent written and communication skills * Experience in influencing and presenting at senior & executive level of management * A record of excellence in building high performing teams and driving innovation within the testing landscape * Experience in Azure DevOps, Visual Studio, SQL Server, JavaScript, REST API, GIT, Docker, and integration with CICD pipelines * Direct experience with one or more functional automation tools. E.g., Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, Cucumber, Postman, Tosca, * Experience with programming languages such as Typescript, JavaScript, C#, React, .NET, ASP.NET, Angular * Australian citizen (Able to achieve Australian Defense Security Clearance) Technical Skills * Experience in Azure DevOps, Visual Studio, SQL Server, JavaScript, REST API, GIT, Docker, and integration with CICD pipelines (some or any). * Experience in development of one or more functional automation tools. E.g., Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, Cucumber, Postman, Tosca. Additional experience we value * A background or understanding of Defense, aviation, military, and/or regulated environment * ISTQB Test Manager certification and/or Test Automation certifications * Experience in utilizing AI tools for innovative testing outcomes What You’ll Be Doing Strategy and Planning * Defining the delivery testing strategy, frameworks, and test plans (manual, automated and performance). * Team Leadership: Managing, mentoring, and directing testing teams, including onshore and offshore resources. * Drive the test automation strategy, direction and strategy execution across teams * Utilise innovation opportunities (e.g. AI, tooling, automation) to add value and efficiencies to the overall testing outcome Execution and Governance: * Overseeing end-to-end testing (System, SIT, Regression, Test Automation, Performance Testing), managing the defect lifecycle, and ensuring compliance with quality standards. Stakeholder Communication: * Influence software leadership, SMEs and teams towards the technical direction for Test Automation and testing innovation. * Reporting delivery, risks, and test status to project managers and clients, acting as a liaison. Risk Management: * Proactively identifying potential risks/issues to product quality and project timelines. * Propose mitigations or countermeasures to risks/issues with cost-benefit justifications. People Management: * Leading, mentoring and developing technical testing professionals (test analysts, automation engineers) * Manage career growth, team performance, recruitment and build a high performing team Business Knowledge * Develop an understanding of the products, roadmaps, documentation and scope, including automation roadmap * Working closely with the Engineering Leads, testing teams and other team members to gather needs and requirements for testability and test automation approaches at a release level. * Learn and gain ongoing knowledge of the applications, the business, and the industry Test Planning & Design * Define the product Test Strategy and timeline planning that aligns with the quality goals * Understanding the needs for testing environments and setup * Ensure that testing activities adhere to relevant standards, regulations, and industry best practices * Ensure sufficient coverage is attained through release cycles Test Execution * Planning and support in execution of testing within application(s) * Test Reporting and communication to software teams * An escalation point for issue resolution within the leadership team Test Automation * Develop and drive the maturity of the automation framework and automation tools * Plan and track the test automation roadmap and * Create an automation plan for releases * Determine the automation feasibility based on criteria * Enhance the automation framework to promote reusability/scalability * Execute automated tests for functional and regression testing * Report on automation status and progress * Develop Automation capability with the test team and other functions Communication & Reporting * Develop test schedule, plan, and risks within the team * Reporting progress in daily execution report to your team and Engineering Lead(s) * Active participation in Leads/management meetings or ceremonies * Demonstration of test automation progress and value * Provide regular updates on Testing outcomes and innovation At Ocean, our values guide how we make decisions, lead teams, and deliver technology that our customers rely on.
