Salary: From £32,000 per annum negotiable depending on experience + fantastic benefits

Location: Hybrid - A blend of working from home and your nominated hub office, we have hubs in London, Bristol, Manchester and Oxford. Specific patterns for working in the office are not mandated, and the frequency of time worked in the office is agreed with your manager. Meeting in person is something we value so you may need to travel on occasion to any of our hub offices.

KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstrable experience in a software development environment.
  • Experience with SQL, XML, and JSON.
  • Experience creating API test frameworks using tools such as SOAPUI or Postman.
  • Working knowledge of: JIRA, Confluence, AWS and Azure DevOps.
  • Demonstrable experience of working across multiple teams to deliver robust software to the end user.
  • Experience dealing with technical test issues and providing elegant solutions.
  • Experience in the creation of large test data sets.
  • Knowledge of accessibility testing tools and techniques.
  • Experience working with test case management tools such as TestRail.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Software Development Group (SDG) works closely with the different product families in Jisc develop and maintain the software systems required to collect and quality assure collections of data related to the Higher Education sector in the UK. Focussing on technical innovation and software delivery, we pride ourselves on building the right thing and building the thing right. We do this using agile methodologies, with continuous testing, architecting, integration, delivery, and validated learning.
The role requires experience as a test/QA Analyst to lead testing activities ensuring our products maintain a high standard of quality. Responsibilities will include planning, executing, and overseeing various testing phases, identifying and reporting defects, and ensuring that all issues are resolved before product release.

RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Monitor testing progress, manage defects, and raise delivery risks.
  • Communicate test results clearly to the development team.
  • Develop and maintain secure, high-performance test frameworks.
  • Understand the testing pyramid and address various scenarios.
  • Understand CI/CD and the importance of early, frequent testing and quality assurance.
