The Software Test Engineer will support the Global Force Information Management (GFIM) program for the U.S. Army. This position involves designing, developing, and implementing test automation frameworks in a continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) environment to ensure high quality deliverables. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in automation testing, test framework development, and agile methodologies.
Test Strategy and Planning: Develop and maintain the Program Test and Evaluation Plan (TEMP) in alignment with program goals and objectives. Design and implement robust test automation frameworks to ensure scalability, maintainability, and high-test coverage. Collaborate with Army test organizations, GFIM program staff, and the lead system integrator to coordinate testing strategies and scenarios. Define and implement automation best practices, standards, and procedures tailored for an Agile environment. Test
Development and Execution: Develop and maintain automated test scripts to validate functional, regression, and performance requirements. Write, execute, and optimize testing scripts and automation processes to improve efficiency and accuracy. Ensure that automated tests are integrated into CI/CD pipelines, identifying inefficiencies and recommending improvements. Oversee testing activities to ensure products meet established performance, quality, and security standards.
Agile Collaboration: Actively participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. Work closely with development teams to understand business requirements and translate them into effective test cases. Mentor and train junior testers, ensuring alignment with industry standards and testing best practices.
Problem Solving and Reporting: Investigate and resolve defects by collaborating with development teams and stakeholders. Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences. Prepare detailed reports and recommendations based on test results to guide program decision making.
Agile and DevSecOps Engagement: Actively participate in Agile development processes, including sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. Incorporate DevSecOps principles into test strategies, ensuring security and performance are integrated into each development cycle.
Quality Assurance and Problem Resolution: Monitor and oversee all testing phases to ensure products conform to established performance, quality, and security standards. Investigate issues, develop corrective actions, and recommend remedial steps based on test results to ensure program success.
Cross Domain and Cloud Testing: Provide expertise in testing cross domain solutions, ensuring secure access and transfer of information across security domains. Develop test strategies for cloud-based systems to verify performance, reliability, and security in modern deployment environments.
Stakeholder Engagement: Interface with program leadership and other stakeholders to communicate test progress, identify risks, and ensure requirements are met. Deliver reports and recommendations to senior Army leadership to support informed decision making.

EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS:

Senior Level

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of professional experience in software test automation, including framework design, development, and maintenance.
  • ISTQB Advanced Test Automation Engineer Certification or equivalent or Certified Software Test Professional (CSTP) or equivalent.

Journeyman Level

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–5 years of experience in software testing and quality assurance.
  • IAT Level I certification (e.g., A+CE, CCNA Security, Network+ CE, or SSCP).

Current and active Secret security clearance
Location flexible with preference to Ft. Eustis, Fort Belvoir or Fort Gregg-Adams.
