Description

Multi-skilled Calibration Engineer / Test Rig Technician (Elec Bias) with experience of calibrating electrical, pressure and temperature instrumentation and mechanical assembly skills needed for a permanent role in the Wolverhampton / Telford area. Competitive salary (DoE) plus excellent benefits is negotiable (dependent on experience and qualifications). The Calibration Engineer will be working circa 37 hours (Mon–Fri Days).
Applications also considered from recently qualified Electrical / Instrumentation Engineering Apprentices, Trainees or Electronic / Electrical / Instrument biased Graduates or experienced applicants from an Electrical Test Engineers / Instrumentation Technicians or similar background who have experience of using and calibrating electrical and instrumentation items such as thermocouples, ovens, furnaces, pressure / flow gauges, DMM’s / multi-meters etc.

THE IDEAL TEST RIG ENGINEER / MULTI-SKILLED CALIBRATION TECHNICIAN (ELECTRICAL BIAS) WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCE / SKILLS / CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Recent experience as a Test Rig Engineer / Calibration Technician, calibrating and assembling of test rigs
  • Previous experience of calibrating DMM’s / multi-meters, frequency generators, mechanical equipment, pressure and temperature instrumentation such as pressure and flow gauges, thermocouples, PRT’s, ovens / furnaces etc. to traceable or UKAS / ISO 17025 standards
  • Ideally completed a relevant engineering apprenticeship
  • Relevant Electrical/Electronic or Mechanical Engineering qualifications.
  • Knowledge and understanding of hydraulic and mechanical principles.
  • Previous experience in Jig/Tool recertification would be beneficial.
  • Have an electrical diagnostic background
  • Able to read engineering drawings.
  • Must be PC literate in MS Word and Excel and confidence to use bespoke computer software.
  • Knowledge of importing / exporting from Excel databases and report generation from databases.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, able to work as part of a team or alone with minimum supervision.
  • Prior customer facing experience

Responsibilities
  • To calibrate electronic / electrical, temperature and mechanical measuring instruments such as DMM’s / multi-meters, frequency generators, thermocouples, ovens, furnaces, pressure, flow, load.
  • Strip down and re-assemble test rigs.
  • Where necessary fault find down to equipment level.
  • Documenting and inputting data / results onto computer and producing calibration certificates.
  • Where required create work instructions/procedures, risk assessments and method statements.
  • Produce and audit calibration procedures for use within the Laboratory for customer calibration.
  • Develop measurement uncertainty budgets for customer calibrations.
  • To follow company QHSE guidelines.
