QUALIFICATIONS YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5 years of design engineering experience or an Advanced Degree in Engineering with 3 years of design engineering experience

QUALIFICATIONS WE PREFER

  • Advanced Degree in a Engineering
  • Experience with gas turbine special test equipment and facilities
  • Familiar with modeling and drafting in UG NX and AutoCAD, Siemens Teamcenter, Finite Element Analysis using ANSYS Workbench, and experience with Microsoft Project and Office Suite
  • Able to travel domestically and internationally as required
  • Current US Government DOD security clearance

During this exciting time of business growth and expansion, Pratt & Whitney’s Development Operations, specifically the test equipment design organization is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer.

  • Develop and lead a technical design from start to finish autonomously.
  • Work closely with customers to develop and refine requirements to bound the design of Special Test Equipment, STE.
  • Participate as lead engineer within a team of engineers to develop solutions to difficult and complex problems for a moderately sized project.
  • Coaching and mentoring less experienced engineers.
  • Openly communicates within and outside of the Test Systems Engineering department to progress the design of the STE and able to clearly discuss and demonstrate the capabilities of their design.
  • Responsible for designing unique equipment and hardware used to enable engine or rig testing in support of research and development of jet engines.
  • Design fuel, air, hydraulic & lube systems, engine frames, inlet screens and ducts, exhaust collectors, thrust measurement systems, and many more components that are used to connect and facilitate testing a jet engine.
  • Coordinate and expedite the procurement, fabrication, construction, installation, and checkout of these systems.
  • Consider factors such as safety, environmental impact, code compliance, budget, feasibility, ergonomics, schedule, and efficiency.
  • Travel is up to 10%.
