Description
Overview A Dynamics Test Technician is a specialized role focused on the physical stressors a product undergoes during its lifecycle. In industries like aerospace, automotive, and defense, "dynamics" refers specifically to vibration, shock, and structural integrity. As a senior-level technician, you aren't just running a machine; you are the bridge between engineering theory and physical reality, often leading a team and ensuring complex test setups are executed flawlessly. Salary: $20- $25/hr DOE Responsibilities Test Setup & Execution: Assist in mounting test articles to electrodynamic shakers or shock machines using specialized fixtures and fasteners. Instrumentation: Install and calibrate sensors, including accelerometers, strain gauges, and thermocouples. * Equipment Operation: Learn to operate vibration controllers (Vibration Research), power amplifiers, and data acquisition systems (DAQ) to run specified test profiles (Sine, Random, Shock). Data Collection: Monitor tests in progress to ensure parameters remain within specified tolerances and record raw data for engineering review. Maintenance & Calibration: Perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment and ensure all tools are within their calibration cycles. Documentation: Assist in drafting technical logs and "Notice of Deviation" (NOD) reports if a test fails to meet specified criteria or if equipment malfunctions. Skills / Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Electronics, Mechanical Technology, or a related field is highly preferred. Mechanical Aptitude: Strong hands-on skills with hand tools, power tools, and basic mechanical assembly. Basic Electronics: Understanding of basic electrical circuits, cabling, and signal types. Computer Literacy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel/Word) and the ability to learn proprietary test software. Attention to Detail: Ability to follow complex, written procedures (such as MIL-STD or ASTM standards) with high precision. Physical Requirements & Environment: Physical Demands: Ability to lift to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in awkward positions to secure test articles. Environment: Exposure to high noise levels (hearing protection provided), mechanical hazards, and occasionally extreme temperature environments during combined environment testing. Entry level – 1 to 2 years’ experience in manufacturing, machinery, or testing background. Diversity Statement At Element, we always take pride in putting our people first. We are an equal opportunity employer that recognizes diversity and inclusion as fundamental to our Vision of becoming “the world’s most trusted testing partner”. All suitably qualified candidates will receive consideration for employment on the basis of objective work related criteria and without regard for the following: age, disability, ethnic origin, gender, marital status, race, religion, responsibility of dependents, sexual orientation, or gender identity or other characteristics in accordance with the applicable governing laws or other characteristics in accordance with the applicable governing laws.
Responsibilities
