Job Title: Grid Vista Testing Specialist
Reports To: Principal Engineering Manager

SUMMARY

The GridVista Testing Technician will play a critical role in supporting the development and validation of GridVista, an advanced distributed sensing platform for transmission conductors. This position is focused on executing hands-on testing, experimental setups, and field deployments under the direction of senior engineering staff. The technician will be responsible for preparing and running BOTDR and DAS experiments, managing instrumentation, documenting procedures, and assisting with fiber optic splicing and installation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Fiber Optics, Telecommunications, or related field.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with fiber optic systems (splicing, OTDR/BOTDR testing, installation).
  • Familiarity with distributed sensing technologies (DTS, DAS, BOTDR) is a strong plus.
  • Experience working in utility, telecom, or ISP environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and test procedures.
  • Comfortable working in lab and outdoor field environments.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Willingness to travel for field testing and deployments.
Responsibilities
  • Set up and execute lab and field experiments involving BOTDR and DAS systems.
  • Operate and maintain optical interrogators, test spans, and environmental test equipment.
  • Perform fiber optic splicing, termination, and troubleshooting.
  • Collect, organize, and document test data in accordance with engineering protocols.
  • Assist in the preparation of test reports and validation summaries.
  • Support installation and commissioning of GridVista systems in field environments.
  • Maintain lab equipment, tools, and safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and field teams to ensure test coverage and repeatability.
