Job Description
The Text Producer is responsible for writing clear, concise, and engaging headlines for the straps at the bottom of the screen, as well as compiling and updating the news ticker in alignment with Sky News’ editorial priorities and policies. The role requires excellent writing skills, a strong understanding of news judgment, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced newsroom environment.
Key Responsibilities

Write accurate, engaging, and concise text for on-screen straps and the news ticker, ensuring clarity and impact.

• Select and prioritize breaking news and key updates in line with Sky News’ editorial direction.
• Continuously monitor news feeds, wires, and internal sources to keep the ticker up to date with the latest developments.
• Ensure all content adheres to Sky News’ editorial policies, legal guidelines, and journalistic standards.
• Collaborate closely with producers, editors, and other newsroom teams to align text content with broader news coverage.
• React swiftly to breaking news, updating straps and the ticker in real-time to maintain accuracy and relevance.
• Edit and refine text for grammar, punctuation, and clarity while maintaining a sharp and engaging tone.
• Work efficiently under tight deadlines, ensuring rapid and accurate updates as stories evolve.
• Stay informed on global and national news trends to anticipate and reflect key developments.

Key Skills, Experience and Education

Proven experience in journalism, news production, or a related field.

• Exceptional writing and editing skills with the ability to convey complex stories in a few words.
• Strong understanding of news values, editorial priorities, and audience engagement.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure in a live newsroom environment.
• Keen attention to detail and accuracy in fast-moving news situations.
• Familiarity with newsroom systems, wire services, and real-time news monitoring tools.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
• Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays as needed.
• Proficiency in Arabic grammar.
