*** Do Not Apply on this Website***See Application Instructions Below***   City of Orrville Electric Distribution Line Supervisor / Lineworker Electric Distribution Line Supervisor The City of Orrville is seeking applicants for the position of Electric Distribution Line Supervisor. This non-exempt, classified position will plan and schedule construction, maintenance, and repair of system lines, including material and equipment estimates and enters into the computerized maintenance management system; supervise assigned personnel, assigns tasks and vehicles, provide guidance and periodically monitor work performance, and inspect on completion; monitor the installation of single- and three-phase metering; perform installation work if required; respond to storm and other emergency situations that may arise; organize and coordinate mutual aid with other utilities as necessary; prepare sketches and maps using the utilitiy’s CAD system; consult with superintendent and engineering staff regarding design and implementation of major projects and problems that arise; assist with the preparation of the annual budget by providing recommendations concerning equipment, staffing and material needs; supervise and inspect work of contractors when working for the utility; train lineworkers in safe work practices and proper operation of tools and equipment; receive and resolve complaints from the public as required; visit construction (commercial and residential) sites to advise and consult regarding options for utilizing and implementing electric services; and more. This position requires graduation from college or university with an associate degree in electrical engineering, electronics or related field, or completion of an apprentice program in electronics, supplemented by formal training courses covering electricity, oil circuit breakers, transformers, and related equipment; considerable experience in electric line maintenance work at a senior level; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, abilities, and skills. Individuals in this classification serve as a ground person, and duties include preparing material for higher level lineworkers, observing work activities around energized circuits for hazards, operating assigned equipment, working on dead or low voltage circuits, stocking line trucks with necessary supplies and equipment, trimming trees, attending training sessions to prepare for advancement, plus other duties related to the construction, maintenance and extensions of electric lines. The pay range is $28.26 to $35.31. These positions require possession of a high school diploma (or GED) and specialized training and/or experience in line work that includes verifiable training and experience in climbing. Applicants must have a valid Ohio driver’s license and a commercial driver’s license (CDL) or be eligible to get a CDL.
