POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Full-time, 35 hours per week, Monday-Friday. The Cafe Manager is responsible for managing the daily operations of the bakery/coffee shop, including oversight of employees, food ordering, inventory management, approval of employee timesheets, scheduling, and ensuring adherence to opening and closing procedures. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of customer service.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required: Proven experience as a Cafe Manager or similar role in the food and beverage industry. Proficiency in point-of-sale (POS) systems and inventory management software. Knowledge of health and safety regulations. Experience as a baker is a plus.
Must possess: Strong communication and interpersonal/human relations, team management skills, commitment to providing excellent customer service with a friendly and approachable demeanor, problem solving, leadership, and organizational and multitasking abilities. Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, some evenings, some weekends and some holidays.
Salary: $19.00-20.00/per hour . Excellent benefits package, including medical and dental insurance, paid vacation and sick leave, and NYS retirement.

Responsibilities
  • Operations Management: Oversee all aspects of cafe operations to ensure efficiency and profitability. Assist in all levels of the operation from baking to waiting on customers, to food and beverage prep.
  • Employee Oversight: Supervise, train, and support staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment. Address any employee issues swiftly and professionally according to JCC contracts and procedures.
  • Food Ordering and Inventory: Manage food and beverage ordering, maintain inventory levels, and ensure quality control.
  • Timesheet Approval: Review and approve employee timesheets, ensuring accurate payroll processing.
  • Scheduling: Create and manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage and optimal service.
  • Covering: Covers when needed for morning and/or afternoon shifts; assistas during peak times.
  • Opening/Closing Procedures: Ensure proper opening and closing procedures are followed, maintaining security and cleanliness.
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service, addressing any issues or complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Financial Management: Monitor financial performance, manage budgets, and implement cost-saving measures.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and safe environment. Maintaining SERV-SAFE certification.
  • Other Duties: Performs other duties as assigned.
