JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Theatre Instructors to join our team for our upcoming Mini Play class. As an Instructor, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, fun, and engaging environment for children. You will be responsible for leading activities and teaching/guiding participants to perform the short, selected script. The class runs weekly on Sunday mornings. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with children and have a background in education, theatre, or other creative arts.

SKILLS

  • Experience working with children (ages 6-10) in educational or recreational settings.
  • Experience with drama, theatre, and/or other creative arts.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and team members.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also demonstrating leadership qualities when required.
  • A positive attitude, patience, and enthusiasm for working with diverse groups of children.
    Must be able to provide a clean Vulnerable Sector Check before the job start date.
    Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract
    Contract length: 10 weeks
    Pay: $17.20-$18.50 per hour
    Expected hours: 2 – 2.5 per week

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and engage with participants during various activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Assist in planning, organizing, and leading drama and movement activities that promote teamwork, creativity, and confidence.
  • Lead games and teach participants to run lines, follow blocking and cues, work with props/costumes, and perform the play during their final class.
  • Foster a positive environment by encouraging participation and inclusivity among all participants.
  • Communicate effectively with participants, parents, and fellow staff members regarding participant progress and any concerns that may arise.
  • Participate in training and planning.
