Your role at St John of God Mount Lawley Hospital The Perioperative Services Department is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Theatre Orderly to join our dedicated team of theatre nurses. SJG Mt Lawley features eight modern operating theatres and two fully equipped procedure rooms, supporting a wide range of surgical specialties. These include orthopaedics, general surgery, urology, ENT, gynaecology, plastics, and endoscopy. With a strong focus on patient safety and innovation—including robotic-assisted surgery—we offer a dynamic and collaborative environment for surgical excellence. In this role, you will be responsible for safely transporting, assisting, and lifting patients to and from the Operating Suite, within the Operating Rooms, and other Units as required. You will also provide valuable support to medical and nursing staff by carrying out selected cleaning duties within the Operating Rooms and performing messages as needed. The role is offered on a permanent full-time basis, working 38 hours per week. The Position: Carries out all duties under the direction and supervision of the Housekeeping Manager, (After Hours Clinical Nurse Manager/Leading Hand). Participate in care of patients under supervision of nursing caregivers. Transport patients on trolleys and beds and assist in positioning and transferring patients. Ensure patients dignity and privacy is maintained. Hold patients limbs during preparation for surgery. Support patients during insertion of epidurals. Assist recovery caregivers with positioning patients. Demonstrate courteous communication to all customers Assist with transferring equipment from the theatres to the utility room including rubbish and linen. Cleaning of operating rooms, lights, floor or equipment, benches and shelves. Restock theatres, warming cabinets, and change rooms as required Returning and/or collecting of specimens to the laboratory as required The successful candidate will have a sound understanding of occupational health and safety principles, with the ability to apply them consistently to ensure your own safety and that of others in the workplace, taking all necessary measures to identify, avoid, eliminate, or minimize hazards. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team, prioritising and managing multiple tasks efficiently whilst maintaining a strong commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
