Description
Description We have an opening for an organized, detail-oriented technical theatre expert with CAD or Revit drafting experience. Schuler Shook is an internationally recognized theatre planning, lighting design, and audio video design firm with projects in the United States and around the world. You will work with our team of collaborators in our Dallas office. We also share information and ideas with our offices in Chicago, Minneapolis, New York, San Francisco, and Melbourne, Australia. WHAT YOU WILL DO Theatre Specialists work closely with our Theatre Planning staff on a variety of design and project tasks. You will contribute to preparing client advisory and contract drawings, conducting research, performing calculations, developing equipment layouts and details, and occasionally attending client meetings to support client needs. You will be part of our collaborative team of theatre planners. You will support the planning and design teams in the design and documentation of our projects. You will document everything we work on, from theatrical lighting infrastructure to rigging systems to theatre seating layouts and back of house design. Your technical theatre background will inform your work and allow you to participate more completely in our design studios and discussions. You will have the opportunity for some travel for meetings and site visits, and as experience is gained you may begin managing small projects under senior staff supervision. WHAT YOU WILL BRING Your abilities are more important to us than the number of years of experience you have, but around 4 years of experience in technical theatre, live entertainment production, and/or theatre production design is desired. Experience with the architectural or construction field is a plus. You must be a proficient visual and verbal communicator and be able to manage multiple tasks to meet client deadlines. You should be comfortable completing tasks on your own and working with people in small teams. You must have a working knowledge of AutoCAD or Revit, with at least one year of experience creating technical drawings preferred. Experience in Revit 2024 and higher is a plus. You must be proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook. Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu or Adobe Acrobat is desired, and knowledge of Photoshop and Enscape is a plus. Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred. We are a client-driven group, so you will be pitching in beyond the drafting aspects of the job. Strong communication and organizational skills, personal initiative, and an understanding of technical theatre and live performance are required. WHAT WE ARE OFFERING This is a position with healthcare benefits, paid vacation, 401k, profit sharing, bonuses, commuter plan with employer contribution, hybrid office/home work environment, cultural enrichment allowance, and the chance to work in a collaborative, team environment filled with folks who support each other as we create designs that contribute to better environments for all. Salary will be commensurate with your ability and experience, ranging from $58,000 - $63,000/year. Anticipated start date will be in February/March of 2026. Schuler Shook is proud to provide equal employment opportunities in all employment practices. Our goal is to be a diverse team that is representative of the cities where we work. We will honor your experiences, perspectives, and unique identity. Together, we strive to create and maintain working and learning environments that are inclusive, equitable, and welcoming. All employment is decided on the basis of qualifications, merit, and business need.
