The school is located in Forestville, Maryland, about 10 minutes from Washington, D.C. About the Theology Department We follow Father Moreau’s directive to educate both the heart and the mind. To this end, we focus our effort on both the spiritual and intellectual development of all students so that they may come to better know God, humanity, and self. This goal is achieved through a comprehensive and rigorous four-year academic program that educates in and through the Holy Cross Tradition in a way that is authentically Catholic. In addition to traditional coursework, we work closely with our Campus Ministry Department to meet our students where they are on their spiritual journey, through monthly liturgies, yearly retreats, and our Holy Cross Service program, which asks students to serve the most vulnerable in our community, in imitation of Christ. Requirements Minimum: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in theology, religious studies, or related field Be a practicing Catholic, able to meet the standards for certification as a teacher in the Archdiocese of Washington Commitment to development of the whole student, including well-being and character, in alignment with the Holy Cross tradition of education Preferred: Experience teaching in a high school, with demonstrated expertise in differentiated instruction Experience using technology to extend and enhance learning, preferably with G Suite for Education (Google Apps) in a 1:1 BYOD environment Familiarity with the Doctrinal Elements of a Curriculum Framework for the Development of Catechetical Materials for People of High School Age PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to enter data into a computer; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors, and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors, and on the telephone; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds; to bend, stoop, climb stairs, and reach overhead.
