The Department of Radiology, Division of Nuclear Medicine, is seeking a qualified and compassionate Theranostic Nurse Coordinator to support their team at 203 Lothrop St, EEI 7th floor Suite 700 Pittsburgh, PA 15213. This is a dual-role position, with responsibilities evenly split between supporting clinical research and navigating patient care within our Theranostic program. The successful candidate will provide direct care to research patients on the day of treatment and serve as a liaison to ensure seamless coordination of care for Theranostic patients. This position is essential in enhancing the patient experience, optimizing care delivery, and supporting clinical research efforts in nuclear medicine.
This role will work Monday through Friday daylight hours and travel to Presbyterian Hospital will be required.

• Demonstrates leadership in ensuring patient comprehension and safety during initial and ongoing informed consent discussions. Demonstrates leadership in ensuring adherence to ethical practices during the conduct of research in order to protect the rights and well-being of patients and the collection of quality data. Utilizes multiple communication methods to facilitate the effective conduct of research. Uses a variety of resources and strategies to manage the care of patients participating in research, ensuring compliance with protocol procedures, assessments, and reporting requirements as well as management of symptoms.
• Utilizes a variety of strategies to enhance recruitment while being mindful of the needs of diverse patient populations. Facilitates compliance with the requirements of the research protocol and good clinical research practice while remaining cognizant of the needs of the diverse patient population. Provides leadership to the research team in ensuring collection of source data and completion of documentation that validated the integrity of the research Takes responsibilities for identifying his or her ongoing professional development needs and seeks resources and opportunities to meet those needs, such as through membership in nursing or research organizations.
• Provides detailed and appropriate teaching to patients and families to effectively guide them through the research study. Actively participates in the department’s quality improvement efforts. Identifies opportunity for quality improvement to colleagues and management. Takes personal responsibility in improving patient satisfaction with the quality of care and service provided.
• Position Specific Clinical Duties:50% of duties include clinical support of the nuclear medicine department including: Performing initial consultations with therapy patients either as shared visits with the nuclear medicine physician or independently. Provide patient education for radiopharmaceutical therapies. Evaluate and manage treatment and post-treatment side effects from radiopharmaceutical therapies with a focus on managing acute side effects. Perform care coordination tasks and become the dedicated nuclear medicine therapy coordinator, for all radiology staff and oncology teams. Assist with medical decision making for theranostic nuclear medicine patients, including handling reactions, and assessing adequacy of patient preparation for therapy by making sure patient meets eligibility criteria. Participate in patient review conferences, tumor boards, and other clinical team meetings. Participate in and support molecular imaging research involving investigational diagnostic and therapy radiopharmaceuticals.
• Position Specific Research duties include:50% of duties include support of nuclear medicine clinical research including: Clinical trial protocol development IRB and IND submissions. Budget and contract negotiations with industry sponsors. Communication with local Pitt IRB and Radiation safety Committee? Blood draws, urine collection, vital signs, and EKGs as needed for execution of clinical trials
• Associates/bachelors preferred.
• Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing required.
• 2 years clinical research experience and/ or 2 years of RN experience.LICENSURE, CERTIFICATIONS, AND CLEARANCES:Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in practicing state. CPR/BLS Certification UPMC approved national certification preferred. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.

• Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
