As an Administrative Agent of the Missouri Department of Mental Health (DMH), BJC Behavioral Health serves as a major point of entry for people eligible for mental health services funded by DMH and is responsible for serving as gatekeeper to the public mental health system. Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose The Therapeutic Classroom Specialist serves in a multi-faceted capacity in support of the Day Treatment program. This position facilitates classroom activity and the education of its students, helping them to stay in school, their community, and their home, while preventing unnecessary psychiatric hospitalizations and improving their overall functioning. This position also develops & implements lesson plans and activities, and communicates client progress with other Day Treatment professionals. Responsibilities Creates journals, lesson plans, skilled activities, and games for physical fitness. Provides minute-by-minute supervision of and direction for student behaviors. Interacts with the students in a positive and healthy manner. Generates daily notes in Avatar; records client behaviors reflecting treatment plan progress. Keeps the classroom organized, clean, and therapeutic.
