POSITION: THERAPEUTIC PRACTITIONER

Location: Stowmarket, Suffolk
Hours: 08:30 - 15:30, term time only (32.5 per week)
Type: PAYE / Part-Time / 1 Year Contract
Pay: £20 per hour
Start Date: 01/09/25

OVERVIEW:

Are you a qualified teacher with a therapeutic approach and a passion for supporting children with SEND? We are looking for a committed Therapeutic Practitioner to deliver our bespoke Therapeutic Curriculum to children aged 4–11. Referrals are made via the local authority on a temporary basis and sessions will be delivered in our new base opening 1st September 2025.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with primary-aged children with SEND (SEMH, ASD, ADHD, SPD)
  • Proven experience planning and delivering a tailored curriculum in a therapeutic or alternative setting
  • Strong behaviour management skills and understanding of trauma-informed practice
  • Familiarity with Makaton, PECS, or Talk Pads is an advantage
  • Excellent communication, record-keeping and interpersonal skills
  • Confident working independently and as part of a multi-agency team
  • Organised, empathetic, resilient and flexible
Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging, child-centred sessions using the GROW curriculum under the direction of the Therapeutic Lead.
  • Support children during breakfast and lunch times, encouraging independence and social interaction.
  • Implement EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) outcomes within sessions for each individual child under the direction of the Therapeutic Lead.
  • Provide personal care for children as required, maintaining dignity and respect at all times.
  • Set up and tidy up the therapeutic space before and after each session, ensuring a safe, welcoming and calming environment.
