POSITION SUMMARY The Clinician provides individual, group, and family therapy as well as crisis intervention and case management services to children, youth, and families. This role requires independent judgment in applying established procedures, conducting assessments, and maintaining clinical documentation. The Clinician holds responsibility for all clinical aspects of treatment, case management, and adjunctive services. The position reports to the Clinical Program Manager and participates in weekly individual and group supervision. Collaboration with internal and external team members is essential to support highly functional teams serving clients and families. TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES (*: The non-essential functions) General Responsibilities * Provide clinical leadership to ensure compliance with individualized services and monitor client progress. * Collaborate with agency staff (paraprofessionals, managers, psychiatrist, nurse) and external partners (referring workers, natural supports) to develop and track treatment goals. * Complete clinical documentation—including assessments and progress notes—within required timelines, adhering to Santa Clara County Mental Health and RCS policies. * Maintain client records in compliance with Phase II Medical Consolidation (Title 9, Chapter 11, Section 1810.440). * Demonstrate knowledge and integration of agency treatment philosophy, including Transformational Care Planning, Wraparound Values, and Best Practices. * Approach client care through an individualized, strength-based model to support treatment progress. * Participate in agency meetings, committees, and performance/quality improvement (PQI) initiatives such as peer review, data collection, surveys, or work groups. Clinical Responsibilities * Support intake processes by conducting assessments and collaborating with program management staff. * Develop, review, and update clinical documentation, assessments, and safety plans in partnership with clients and caregivers. * Provide therapy services (individual, group, and family) and facilitate communication across internal and external treatment teams. * Maintain regular written and verbal communication with county workers, referral sources, interns, and consumers as indicated. * Coordinate treatment direction and discharge planning with caregivers, community partners, county placement workers, and program leadership. * Build and sustain positive relationships with parents, caregivers, referral sources, and internal stakeholders as part of the treatment team. * Prepare written reports including assessments, admission documents, progress updates, and discharge summaries. * Uphold professional standards related to client rights, confidentiality, and access to individualized, culturally responsive care. * Ensure compliance with agency confidentiality policies, mandated reporting, duty to warn procedures, and all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards. * Maintain adherence to all agency and regulatory requirements (e.g., Title XXII, CSC, MH). * Engage in supervision, consultation, and professional development to ensure high-quality and effective services. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education, Training, and Experience * AMFT, ASW, APCC or equivalent required. * Current registration with the California BBS or the Board of Psychology required. * One year of full-time experience in a setting working with children and families, preferred. * Experience in a children’s mental health setting, strongly preferred. * Bilingual/Bicultural (Spanish & English) required. License (s) * California driver’s license and good DMV report (ability to be insured by our insurance carrier). * Ability to obtain licensure with the BBS upon completion of hours. Knowledge and Skills * Individual, family, and group therapy including Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Interventions, treatment of trauma-related symptoms, behavioral approaches for externalizing symptoms, and cultural competency. * The ability to demonstrate maturity, leadership, flexibility, creativity, and problem-solving skills in the execution of clinical tasks. * The ability to conceptually and pragmatically organize complex circumstances presented in community-based services. * Ability to remain calm and professional during crisis intervention, suicide assessment, conflict resolution, and interpersonal communication. Ability to maintain a positive perspective in the treatment and care of emotionally disturbed clients and families. * Professional ethics and confidentiality including informed consent, risks and benefits to participation in treatment, knowledge of the issues related to family disruption, immigration trauma, unmet mental health needs, substance abuse, and domestic violence. Special Requirements * Must be able to meet and receive a criminal records clearance as required by Title XXII licensing regulations. Physical and Mental Requirements The following are required in day-to-day performance of the duties of this position: * Sitting, walking, standing, grasping (simple), and visual/auditory acuity are constantly required (over 2/3 of the workday). * Bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, lifting, reaching, and pushing/pulling are required occasionally (under 1/3 of the workday). * Climbing and crawling are generally not required.
