REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences/Biomedical sciences is preferred, but other degrees will be considered
  • At least 4-5 years experience at a pharmaceutical/biotech company or healthcare consulting/research firm
  • Substantial previous experience in producing SWOT analyses and drug/market forecasting
  • Deep knowledge of the drug development process and associated pharmaceutical markets
  • Previous experience in analyzing specific therapy area highly preferred but not required – opportunity to move across therapy areas
  • Previous experience of project management and development of more junior team members
  • Ability to influence and motivate team members
  • Considerable experience of presenting to clients and defending conclusions
  • Previous experience with data visualization and data analytics software (e.g. Tableau, Alteryx etc.) is an advantage
  • Excellent written and verbal English skills
  • Impeccable attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience of collecting and curating quality data from multiple sources to produce robust and defendable conclusions.
  • Good organizational, time management and priority setting skills, and the flexibility to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team both in the office and off site
  • Ability to perform complex data manipulations in Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP, macros)

Responsibilities

THE ROLE:

The Therapy Area Director - Oncology is responsible for overseeing the production and maintenance of a portfolio of high-quality competitive analysis. Core objectives include developing Oncology portfolio plans to meet client needs, and managing a team of analysts to deliver them, liaising with colleagues across the business to support commercial targets, and maintaining therapy area and industry knowledge. Drawing on their deep therapy area expertise and experience in analyzing and forecasting disease markets, the Therapy Area Director will have responsibility for scoping and prioritizing all projects within their portfolio.
This is a management role with 3-5 direct reports. The Therapy Area Director will have line management responsibility for a team of analysts, and will seek to develop their team, providing training, monitoring performance, and identifying opportunities to enable professional development.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Define strategy and direction for the Oncology content area using industry expertise to decide upon areas of focus.
  • Review client queries and user stats to prioritize projects.
  • Execute strategy for the successful completion of the content portfolio through coordination of analyst team.
  • Serve as franchise owner with final responsibility for content portfolio on the site (resource & time management/checking published content/ensuring accuracy).
  • Anticipate and track developments in content area so to identify the resources required to deliver timely updates to content in response to key market events.
  • Determine scope and prioritization of future indication coverage within Oncology based on knowledge of recent and upcoming catalysts.
  • Author and update content and analysis as needed to ensure core therapy area portfolio is maintained and up to date.
  • Monitor news sources on a daily basis to identify key events within disease markets, and comment on such events in the Biomedtracker platform, if warranted.
  • Continuously seek to improve product offering. Remain abreast of competitor offerings and use knowledge of trending topics and clients’ needs to further develop content offering.
  • Work with other therapy area directors to allocate primary research (KOL) budget and prioritize usage across portfolio.
