Description

Elevated Abilities provides virtual and in-home services to families and children in the Calgary and Surrounding Area. We work with children with disabilities as part of a multi-disciplinary team, including Behaviour Consultants, Psychologists, Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapist, and Therapy Support Aides.

JOB SUMMARY

The Therapy Support Aide works directly with children and families to implement strategies and tools developed by the clinical team. This role focuses on bringing therapeutic goals into everyday routines at home and in the community in ways that are both functional and practical.
This position is part-time, with the opportunity to transition to full-time. Starting hours would be 10-20 per week, between 3:00 and 6:30 pm Monday to Thursday, and 9:00 to 12:00 on Fridays.
Successful candidate must be willing to work with children with complex needs aggressive behaviours (pinching, hitting, yelling)

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Currently completing or have completed a Diploma or Degree in a Human Services program (e.g., Disability Studies, Rehabilitation, Social Work, Education, Psychology).

Experience & Requirements

  • Experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or other developmental needs.
  • Must have a valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License and reliable vehicle.
  • Current criminal record check and child/youth intervention check within 30 days of start date.

Responsibilities

CORE DUTIES

  • Support families in incorporating strategies from the multidisciplinary clinical team into daily life.
  • Plan and facilitate in-home sessions with activities that align with service plan goals.
  • Model strategies for parents and gradually fade support to build independence.
  • Collect and maintain accurate documentation, including timesheets, data, and monthly summaries.
  • Communicate family progress, setbacks, or concerns to the team in a timely manner.

OTHER DUTIES

  • Collaborate with clinical team members to provide effective interventions.
  • Actively participate in team meetings and client update meetings.
  • Write incident reports when required.
