We're currently looking for a talented Thermal and Cooling Engineer to join our Advanced Technology Operations team. The Thermal and Cooling Lead Design Engineer is responsible for the design, development and validation of advanced cooling technologies for the next generation of gas turbine combustion systems, including development rig and engine test campaigns, planning, monitoring, data reduction and documentation. In this role you will learn processes that meet business needs across the organization, participate in solving complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, and contribute to the overall business strategy. Job Description Essential Responsibilities Detailed thermal analysis, design, and test functions required to define components, assemblies, and systems that meet program and product requirements Use and development of engineering tools to perform thermal evaluations Successful planning, design and execution of test programs Compliant communications of thermal technical data Build and demonstrate knowledge of relevant physics and how design components or subsystems interact and integrate into the larger system or product Ensure system definition accurately represents component characteristics Understand system design margin requirements Understand system risk and identify potential abatements Contribute to and present at technical and design reviews Qualifications/Requirements Master’s degree (preferred) in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university with a focus on combustion systems Relevant thermal design experience Technical aptitude in combustion science, experimental testing and large data processing Knowledge of CFD tool basics and FE tools to address aero-thermal design Lean / Six Sigma Fluency in Italian and English Work VISA, according to local regulation, is required Desired Characteristics Clear thinker and effective problem solver Independence / work without direct supervision Effective program management and execution Flexible & friendly approach to working in global teams What we offer Smart working and work life-balance Avio Aero, when possible, promotes smart work in hybrid mode, and encourages a good, healthy and satisfying work-life balance.
