JOB OVERVIEW

To perform the duties as a 3rd CLASS ASSISTANT ENGINEER reporting to the Chief Operating Engineer and / or their Designate, the 3rd Class Assistant Engineer is responsible for assisting in the operation and maintenance of the Energy Conversion Center, first call response with wide service requests and to monitor and control campus HVAC, steam, chilled/hot water, compressed air and alarms utilizing DDC and BMS systems.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An Ontario Secondary School diploma
  • A valid 3rd class Operating Engineers Certificate, certified by the Province of Ontario
  • A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years’ experience with maintenance, power plant operations, water chemical treatment, HVAC and services distribution systems, DDC and BMS control systems.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the operation and maintenance of the Energy Conversion Center.
  • Respond to service requests and record by completing a blank Work Order.
  • Make adjustments and or minor repairs to HVAC equipment.
  • Operate and monitor all building equipment utilizing the DDC and BMS control systems.
  • Perform chemical tests and treatment of cooling tower, pool and closed loop systems and make adjustments to maintain levels within required operating parameters.
  • Minor preventative and emergency corrective maintenance of HVAC, steam/condensate lines and associated equipment.
  • Perform rounds, which may include testing, recording of readings and making adjustments within required operating parameters.
  • Other duties as assigned.
