Job Description The Thrift Store Manager is responsible for leading the thrift store as a ministry platform that provides dignified care to guests, develops volunteers, and stewards donated goods with excellence. Reporting to the Community Center Director and working closely with staff and volunteers, this role oversees day-to-day operations, builds a healthy volunteer culture, and ensures the thrift store aligns with Mariners mission and discipleship pathways. A full-time position, the schedule is Tuesday-Saturday from 8:30am-4:00pm; Sunday from 11:00am-4:00pm, with Mondays off, and occasional evenings as needed for a total of 40 hours. This position is nonexempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Ministry Leadership & Volunteer Development Identify, train, and develop volunteer leaders to run various facets of the ministry. Foster a healthy, mission-aligned volunteer culture through appreciation, care, and development opportunities. Provide care and support to volunteers and guests through relational leadership and appropriate referrals. Store Operations & Stewardship Oversee all thrift store systems including donation intake, merchandising, inventory flow, registers, and deposits. Implement efficient intake-to-sales processes that maximize stewardship of donated goods and financial sustainability. Ensure safety, quality standards, and proper use of facilities, equipment, and resources. Community Connection & Alignment Connect volunteers and shoppers to Mariners Loop offerings, Community Center programs, and outside referrals when necessary. Represent the thrift store through church and community-facing efforts. Build and steward partnerships with vendors and community organizations to expand impact and efficiency. Qualifications 3–5 years of demonstrated experience leading teams, volunteers, or operations in ministry or nonprofit settings. Strong organizational, communication, and administrative skills. Availability for weekends and occasional evenings. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred. Spanish-speaking, bilingual preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to operate or be trained on forklift and pallet jack. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physical environment with donated goods and deliveries. Additional Information Love Jesus and call themselves Christians.
