Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

They are currently seeking a skilled TIG Welder, ideally with experience in ultra-high vacuum products, to join their precision engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for welding delicate hermetically-sealed glass-to-metal assemblies into stainless steel and titanium flanges. This is a critical role where the ability to perform fine precision welding is essential, using heat-sinks to control temperature ramp rates. The ideal candidate will possess expert-level welding skills and have a strong understanding of the unique demands of ultra-high vacuum systems. MIG welders accustomed to general pipe welding will not be suitable for this role.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform precise TIG welding of delicate glass-to-metal assemblies into stainless steel and titanium flanges.
  • Ensure the use of heat-sinks to control temperature ramp-rates, maintaining integrity and precision during the welding process.
  • Adhere to stringent quality standards, ensuring hermetically-sealed assemblies meet required specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to develop and refine welding techniques specific to vacuum-optic products.
  • Conduct regular maintenance and calibration of welding equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of welding activities, including materials used and welding parameters.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any welding-related issues that may arise during the production process.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance welding processes and product quality.
