Description

TIG Welder / Fabricator Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Manually guiding electrode or TIG torch along weld line, maintaining length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from color of metal, sound of weld, and size of molten puddle;
  • Connecting cables and adjusting welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse, as specified by WPS;
  • Welding in flat, horizontal and vertical positions;
  • Examines weld for bead size and other specifications;
  • Applying filler rod manually to supply weld metal;
  • Positioning and clamping work pieces together or assembling them in jig or fixture;
  • Preparing the weld joints prior to work as specified by the WPS;
  • Tacks sub-assemblies and assemblies together

TIG Welder / Fabricator Qualification:

  • Must have at least one year of TIG welding experience
