JOB SUMMARY :

The day-to-day management of a timber production facility located in Storrington, West Sussex. The role will involve managing a team and a busy facility that produces a wide range of products for the golf industry.
In addition to the leadership and management function, please advised that there are “hands on” elements to this role in terms of operating machinery and a competency of working with a variety of tools. Prospective candidates must ensure they satisfy this requirement before submitting their application.

JOB SPECIFIC SKILLS :

Strong organisational skills – ability to prioritise and effective time management.
Managing an established production team - manage employees, working in a team or individually, to maximise their performance and contribution. Schedule their work and activities, give instructions, motivate and direct the workforce to meet the company objectives. Monitor and measure how an employee undertakes their responsibilities and how well these activities are executed. Identify areas for improvement and make positive and constructive suggestions as to how to achieve this. Lead a group of people to help them achieve goals and maintain an effective working relationship among all staff.
Delegate activities and tasks to others according to ability and competence. Make sure that people understand their day-today job role and function.
Production planning in order to meet production targets, production deadlines and budgets.
Ensure that health & safety work practices are adhered to by all staff. Set up procedures for maintaining, monitoring and improving health and safety in the workplace.
Monitor and assure the quality of the goods produced by overseeing the production process. Supervise product inspection and the checking of all products before final despatch.
Analyse production processes leading toward improvement. Ensure that production losses are minimised (e.g. waste) and that overall manufacturing costs are controlled.
Identify the opportunity for continuous improvement and to maximise efficiency.
The ability and competency to operate various machinery including cutting equipment, routers, planing equipment and various hand-held tools.
Placing orders for various stock items, equipment and supplies and working closely with the Eagle office in terms of the overall purchasing function.
Regular stocktaking.
Maintain an organised, well presented and well laid out timber production facility so that all stock items can be readily identified and accessed.

Salary : Competitive, dependent on experience.
