Description
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Performs complex (journey-level) graphics and multimedia design and consultation work in the design, illustration, and production of a variety of printed and electronic publications and graphic materials for the agency. This role bridges strategic content execution with platform expertise, positioning TJJD as a thought leader, human-centered agency that effectively recruits new talent, improves public perception, and supports internal morale.
The Specialist will be responsible for bringing TJJD’s meaningful work to life across social platforms, introducing new content formats, and implementing best practices to improve reach and engagement. This role will act as a liaison across teams, help streamline internal workflows, analyze platform data and provide regular reports, and coordinate digital collaborations with partners and stakeholders.
Works under minimal supervision with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. May plan, assign, and/or oversee the work of others. May be required to work in excess of 40 hours per work week with occasional travel.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in communication design, fine arts, graphic design, visual arts, or related field. One year full-time wage-earning experience in digital communications, social media, content strategy, including creating or managing short-form video, proficiency in key social platforms: Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and Twitter / X.

High School diploma or equivalent. Five years full-time wage-earning experience in in digital communications, social media, content strategy, including creating or managing short-form video, proficiency in key social platforms: Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube or related field.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Lead and maintain a social media-first strategy for all digital content: transforming longform stories into digestible, engaging social media posts.
Launch and manage Instagram while optimizing existing channels (Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Twitter / X) using platform-specific tactics.
Develop and regularly update a Tactical Playbook of best practices for content creation, posting cadence, boosting strategies, and audience engagement
Partner with existing staff to develop and/or repackage photojournalism and written content into short-form video, graphics, and posts.
Write or edit compelling captions that are optimized with key words, tags, and hashtags for readability, searchability, and social engagement.
Manage a consistent publishing calendar across platforms with built-in flexibility for real-time opportunities
Identify and coordinate social media partnerships with like-minded organizations, public officials, and community stakeholders to increase visibility and shared reach.
Assist with organization promotion strategies across social platforms, working with internal staff to increase targeted reach organically.
Create a centralized submission system for content ideas and requests from facility liaisons, internal staff, and county partners.
Provide basic analytics tracking and reporting, adjusting accordingly.
Support team operations through scheduling, maintaining the content calendar, and managing approvals or publishing queues.
Performs all duties in compliance with agency safety policies and procedures:
Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency attendance and leave policies.
Will be required to travel up to 25% of the time.
