ABOUT THIS JOB
The purpose of the role of a stop smoking advisor is to be responsible for helping people who smoke to quit by: Offering motivational interviewing techniques and supporting the change behaviour and combat addiction to tobacco. This will be achieved by: • Running clinics, drop ins and groups across a range of settings and locations • work alongside other advisors and local community partners to recruit people who smoke using a range of promotional methods targeted specific groups as outlines in the service specification. • offering advice and distributing stop smoking medicines to participants who have been referred for support in making a lifestyle change, by their GP, other health professional or through self-referral. • delivering behavioural support through one to one consultations and group sessions that support positive changes and brief intervention advice for stop smoking. The post is a fixed term post for 2 years.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POST
You will need to be a non-smoker or ex-smoker. You will also need to be available to hold appointments in the evenings and on the weekend to ensure we have an accessible service.
