POSITION SUMMARY:
The Tool & Fixture Designer develops and implements solutions to improve our manufacturing processes by solving problems related to equipment, tooling, safety and process challenges in close collaboration with Process Engineering and Production.
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
· Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or combination of experience and Post-secondary education from an accredited vocational or technical training institution (i.e. Manufacturing Technician or other relevant diploma program).
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
· Minimum 2 years’ experience designing fixtures, tools and gauges within a manufacturing engineering environment preferred.
· SolidWorks expertise.

· Design fixtures and work holding for manufacturing cylinders
· Work with Engineering, Production Management and Shop Floor personnel to resolve design and process problems related to material characteristics, dimensional tolerances, employee safety, service requirements, manufacturing procedures, and cost.
· Research, develop and implement improvements to manufacturing tooling and equipment to meet and exceed Company targets of reducing scrap, maximizing quality and meeting on-time delivery requirements.
· Investigate 3rd party tooling solutions for appropriateness for use versus custom tooling including performance, lead time and cost analyses.
· Evaluate semi and full automation, as appropriate.
· Train Production on new or modified tooling, equipment and associated processes.
· Prioritize tool development projects to meet Company targets of reducing scrap, maximizing quality and meeting on-time delivery requirements.
· Provide guidance on preventive maintenance requirements and repair procedures for manufacturing tooling.
