The Tool Design Engineer will be responsible for undertaking a range of tasks in support of tooling used in the manufacture of aircraft components and assemblies. The incumbent will undertake the investigation and resolution of tooling issues including new & modified tooling designs, tooling dispositions, preparation of tooling use instructions, and the provision of technical support to Tooling Quality Assurance.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE):
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical engineering or equivalent
- Experience using CATIA V5 software favorable
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated skills in problem solving
- Exposure to Quality Assurance processes and procedures
- Understanding of OH&S implications within the field
- Familiar with use of email, databases, Internet and Microsoft Windows & Office suite of Tools
- All candidates must have full, unrestricted working rights
This is an Enterprise Bargaining Agreement position and classified as an Engineer 1A. The successful candidate will be required to complete pre-employment checks and a 3-month probationary period.
Responsibilities:
- Investigation and timely resolution of tooling issues / problems encountered during production
- Assessment and disposition of Tool Non-Conformance issues
- Development and preparation of tooling designs and drawings for both new and modified production tooling
- Maintaining tool configuration control through the effective use of the BAA TRACS database system
- Provision of technical support to Tool Quality Assurance including analysis and verification of data produced by co-ordinate measuring machines
- Liaison with internal and external suppliers to achieve timely and cost-effective tool modification / manufacture
- Ensuring that tooling designs prepared comply with government and state legislation and regulations as they relate to OH&S requirements
- Ensuring the delivery of all work assignments are completed in an effective and efficient manner
