POSITION SUMMARY Position: Tool & Die Associate Reports to: Maintenance Manager Location: Greenville, SC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES As a Tool & Die Maker, your primary responsibility will be designing, constructing, modifying, and repairing precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures. The ideal candidate will ensure precision and attention to detail and commit to producing high-quality parts and tools. SKILLS AND ABILITIES Operate a variety of machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC machines, to fabricate parts. Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on tools and dies to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Inspect finished tools and dies for accuracy, functionality, and adherence to specifications, making adjustments as necessary Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance; prepare and update logs and reports. Installation of dies in various presses Work closely with engineers, machinists, and production personnel to resolve issues, improve processes, and ensure timely delivery of tools and dies. Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, ensuring a safe working environment. Qualifications EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a formal apprenticeship or technical training program in tool and die making. Certification from a recognized trade organization or institution is a plus. Experience with CAM software and CNC programming. Proficiency in using machine tools, measuring instruments, and CAD software. Strong understanding of metallurgy, heat treating, and material properties. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues. High level of precision and attention to detail in all tasks. Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies. WORK ENVIRONMENT Regularly works around moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat, and humidity. Noise level may be loud at times. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina. Must be able to lift 50 or more pounds at a time.
