Description
Overview The Tool & Die shop works closely with engineering to design and manufacture sheet metal stamping dies as well as specialized equipment and custom machinery. Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Collaborate with engineers, factory personnel, designers, machinists and tool and die makers to design custom fixtures, templates, and special equipment and machines to meet production needs. Utilize Solidworks 3D and Draftsight 2D CAD software packages to design projects as requested and provide detailed prints to the machinists and tool and die makers so projects can be fabricated and assembled. Spend time shadowing machinists and tool and die makers through the fabrication and assembly of assigned projects to better understand the process and to improve design for manufacturability skills. Assist machinists and tool and die makers with any needs associated to their project. Actively participate in tool room discussions concerning project planning, scheduling and status. Depending on qualified skills and abilities intern/co-op will be allowed to utilize shop equipment to complete machining tasks as requested by leadership. Assist department leadership with shop organization projects and tasks as requested. Qualifications Must be working towards a degree or certificate from college, technical school, or other educational program in engineering or precision machining. Six or more months related experience or training required. Basic knowledge and use of machining equipment, such as drill presses, grinders, lathes, band saws as well a high level of capability with the use of basic hand tools. Pays close attention to detail. Strong time management, prioritization, multi-tasking, organizational, and analytical skills. Positive, collaborative, and open-minded attitude. Self-motivated, responsible and ambitious. Ability to apply good judgment and make decisions independently. Effective professional communication skills both written and verbal. Can represent themselves, the department and the company in a professional manner at all times. Ability to work well and effectively communicate with team members. Computer skills: General computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office software preferred, but not required. The hours for this position are 7:30am - 4:00pm, Monday through Friday.
