JOB OVERVIEW:

  • Production Support for Tooling
  • Maintenance or breakdown of tools
  • Cleaning/welding repair
  • Backfill work supporting tools in production
  • Set up for new tooling
  • We use Vertical mills and lathes for CNC machines (don’t need to have, can train). 2D 2 axis machines. We have very tight tolerances in plastics (measure closely to less than a thousand).
  • Use of CAD/Cam systems like Solidworks and Powermill. Creo is what designers use
  • We use the EDM machine only for burning (not wiring).
  • Lots of teamwork. 50% new tools, 50% break fix of tools. Can fluctuate to 70% fixing and maintenance of tools.
  • Lots of variety of tooling, normally on the smaller end. Lots of new problems and creative problems solving.
  • Most important is the quality of the fix itself, good collaboration with others and positive attitude (50% teamwork, 50% independent)
  • Manual grinding
  • Mentor apprentices

MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Plastic injection molding experience OR die cast experience is a must (stamping for example is not a fit)
  • Ability to handwork and fit tooling
  • Highly collaborative, good leadership and teamwork
  • Positive attitude

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Journeyman card (strongly preferred)
  • CAD/CAM programs
  • EDM machines
