POSITION SUMMARY

Summit Skilled Solutions is seeking an experienced Tool & Die Repair Technician to support the Production and Quality Departments at a leading metal stamping manufacturer. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that tooling is properly repaired, maintained, and optimized to meet both production and quality requirements. The ideal candidate will have journeyman-level expertise and a strong understanding of manual, transfer, and progressive press dies.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Journeyman Tool & Die Certificate preferred, or a minimum of 5 years of direct experience in metal stamping.
  • Strong knowledge of the deep draw stamping process.
  • Proven experience in die repair for transfer, progressive, and manual presses.
  • Excellent math skills, including proficiency in geometry and algebra.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
  • Ability to perform precision work with minimal supervision.
  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Dependable, safety-focused, and committed to producing high-quality work.
  • Skilled in the safe operation and maintenance of shop equipment and tools.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Perform repetitive tasks involving bending, turning, and reaching.
  • Vision corrected to 20/20 and hearing within normal range.
  • Comfortable working in environments with temperature variations and noise (PPE required).
  • Strong motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on transfer, progressive, and manual press dies.
  • Read and interpret die design drawings with precision and accuracy.
  • Diagnose the root causes of tooling issues and implement effective corrective measures.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams throughout the die’s lifecycle.
  • Apply industry best practices for machinery and tooling to optimize performance.
  • Manage time efficiently to meet deadlines and support production schedules.
  • Participate in cross-departmental initiatives and assist other team members as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, providing updates and improvement suggestions.
  • Perform heat treating on tooling parts as required.
  • Seek opportunities to improve personal skills and enhance work processes.
  • Follow all company safety policies and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
  • Complete documentation and reporting accurately and on schedule.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.
