JOB OVERVIEW:

Tool and Die Maker - Precision Grinding Specialist, playing a vital role in crafting intricate components demanding meticulous precision and tolerance. Your mastery of precision grinding, coupled with your capacity to operate within ultra-tight tolerances of +/- 0.00005 inches, will be pivotal in ensuring our success in delivering precision parts. Uphold quality and safety standards while maintaining a clean and orderly work environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Holds a high school education or equivalent and Tool & Die certification or equivalent.
  • Proven track record handling components with tolerances of +/- 0.00005 inches.
  • Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Experience with various grinding techniques, including surface and cylindrical grinding.
  • Familiarity with an array of grinding machinery, including CNC grinders, surface grinders, and cylindrical grinders.
  • Keen attention to detail with an unwavering commitment to producing top-quality work.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, adept at resolving grinding-related challenges.
  • Effective communicator and collaborator, thriving in team environments.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols in grinding operations.
  • Capable of operating multiple machines if needed.
  • May be required to provide training to less experienced operators.
  • Verify machined work-piece conformance using measuring devices.
  • Inspect own work for dimensional accuracy and compliance with quality standards.
  • May be tasked with inspecting work of other operators.
  • Calculate data such as dimensions, rotation speeds, feed rates, and machining times.
  • Proficiency in using handheld tools for dimensional measurement, such as limit gauges, micrometers, calipers, gage blocks,and optical comparators.
  • Strong ability to follow instructions accurately and efficiently, ensuring tasks are completed in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Demonstrated self-motivation and proactive approach to tasks, with a track record of taking initiative to identify and address challenges.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, allowing for meticulous execution of tasks and maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with team members

  • Study blueprints/layouts to visualize and plan grinding sequences.
  • Select and mount grinding wheel, dressing it appropriately.
  • Choose feed rates, grinding speeds, depth of cuts, and suitable grinding wheel specifications for each operation.
