CNC ToolRoom Machinist 3| JOB DESCRIPTION Essential Functions * Works from solid models, blueprints, and sketches to create or modify prototypes, tools, dies, jigs and fixtures. * Designs, builds and repairs custom machine shop tools using machining equipment and measuring instruments. * Programs and operate lathes, grinders, and milling machines. * Calculates the dimensions and tolerances required to set up the machine tools. * Perform prescribed machine maintenance as required. * Perform all dimensional inspections. * Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to supervisor. * May perform a variety of other tasks as production needs require. * Provide guidance and technical support to CNC Toolroom Machinist 1 and 2. * Participate in design reviews for new projects. Preferred Education and Experience * Tool Maker 3 has completed an apprenticeship or on the job training program. * 10 years of related machine shop experience. * Training in general machine shop safety. Work Environment Work is performed in a manufacturing or industrial setting with exposure to conditions including, but not limited to, elevated noise levels, sharp objects, moving mechanical equipment, and vibration. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must have the ability to lift 50 lbs. frequently. Must be able to stand for long periods while performing the duties of this job. Other Duties Performs other duties as assigned. Performs tasks beyond the essential functions to meet business needs, ensure operational continuity, and/or handle unexpected situations. Monday - Friday 6:00am-2:30pm

Responsibilities

The machinist will design, build, and repair custom tools, dies, and fixtures while operating CNC equipment like lathes and mills. They are also responsible for performing dimensional inspections, machine maintenance, and providing technical guidance to junior staff.
