QUALIFICATIONS

To be Considered for this Role You’ll Need…

  • A High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of experience in machine shop operations including vertical milling machines, lathes and surface grinding machines.
  • The ability to follow verbal and written instructions, blue prints, and special order specifications.
  • Good planning, organization and communications skills.
  • The ability to use a variety of measuring devices (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.).
  • The ability to perform math calculations, including decimals and percentages.
  • The ability to understand and apply mechanical concepts (i.e., mechanical aptitude)
  • To be able to bend and stoop constantly.
  • The ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and occasionally 100 lbs. with mechanical assistance or the help of another employee.
  • To maintain safety consciousness and alert to safety hazards.

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Maintain and Repair Tooling: Perform regular maintenance on punch, die, and rotary tooling, as well as ancillary equipment. This includes cleaning, inspecting, and determining repair or replacement needs.
  • Sharpen and Build Tooling: Use specialized machinery like die sharpening machines, milling machines, and grinders to sharpen knives, peen punches, and build knife units to exact specifications.
  • Quality and Inspection: Inspect incoming tooling and equipment to ensure it meets specifications. You’ll use precision measurement tools to verify conformance and coordinate with vendors to correct any issues.
  • Support Production: Expedite tooling repair and coordinate with your team to ensure all equipment is “press-ready” for the manufacturing floor. You’ll also assist with complex slitter changeovers and special tooling setups.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with your team, group leaders, and other departments like Quality and Warehouse. You’ll also help train and support other team members and continuously look for ways to improve our processes.
