Job Title: Tool Setter
Department: Production / Maintenance

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Tool Setter is responsible for setting up, adjusting, and maintaining tools, dies, and related equipment used in the production of copper tube and related products. This role ensures efficient and accurate machine setups to support production goals while maintaining safety and quality standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical certification or vocational training in machining, tool and die, or a related field preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience as a tool setter, machinist, or mechanical technician in a manufacturing environment (metalworking or extrusion experience is a plus).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to read and interpret blueprints, tooling diagrams, and technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges).
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods.
Responsibilities
  • Install and remove tooling and dies on production equipment according to job specifications.
  • Calibrate, align, and test tooling setups to ensure optimal production performance and product quality.
  • Perform tool changes and minor machine adjustments as required during shift operations.
  • Monitor tool wear and report damage or excessive wear to Maintenance or Engineering teams.
  • Work closely with machine operators, maintenance staff, and production supervisors to reduce downtime and improve process efficiency.
  • Maintain detailed records of tool changes, setups, and inspections.
  • Follow all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized in compliance with 5S or similar workplace organization standards.
