Description Summary of Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assists the Engineering Manager is creating highly functional parts that are necessary to manufacture customer products. Essential Duties and Tasks: Creates prototypes using engineer design tools. Assist the tooling design engineer in the building of tools, machines, fixtures and gauges through various means (i.e. Tooling in Progress list, PDM software, ordering of purchased components, communication and follow-up with vendors, etc.). Works jointly, and effectively, with the tooling, maintenance, controls, engineering, and any other relevant department to resolve issues that may arise during the tooling build phase, or afterwards. Conducts rigorous usability tests and modifies products based on test results. Works effectively with vendors to resolve any issues that may arise during the tooling build phase, or afterwards. Supports the program manager by providing information as needed (i.e. tooling information to support the completion of customer tooling breakdown sheets, copies of designs for the completion of tooling verification forms, estimated completion dates for Gantt chart preparation, etc.). Ability to use SolidWorks 2D/3D CAD software. Communicate with vendors to determine technical requirements when purchasing equipment, material, or parts, and doing subsequent follow-up evaluation of those products. Additional tasks related to the position as assigned. Requirements Education and Experience Requirements: Four-year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Physical Requirements: An ability to perform the essential job functions consistently, safely, and successfully with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Communicate clearly with management and other personnel on critical concerns.
