ABOUT THE ROLE
Due to accelerated growth, we’re looking for an additional Tooling Design Engineer to join our team. This exciting opportunity is based from our Advanced Manufacturing Facility in Ampthill, Bedfordshire and benefits from a 4 Day Working Week (Mon – Thu).
The role involves the design, development and implementation of bespoke tooling solutions, to enable the manufacture of components for our specialised products. Typical tooling includes: jigs and fixtures, machine attachments, dies, test rigs and 3D printed assembly aids, for both production and experimental use. There will also be a requirement to undertake some Manufacturing Engineering tasks, such as creating process instructions and using tools such as SAP.
You will require a good working knowledge of 3D CAD packages and PDM tools (ideally CREO and Windchill) and use your design and manufacturing experience, to produce fully resolved design solutions. Your background should demonstrate an approach to the design process that considers: safety, performance requirements, design for manufacture and assembly, ease of use, lifting and transportation, design to cost and manufacturing efficiency.
As part of the Operations Engineering Team, the Tooling Design Engineer is the recognised point of contact for all matters related to their area of expertise. They provide engineering advice, problem solving and co-ordination of activities in support of current and future business, which directly impacts our customers and supports the delivery of Programme milestones.
The Tooling Design Engineer will drive a proactive approach to right first time quality to promote growth, will enhance the reputation of the business through exceptional quality standards and contribute towards a significant reduction in overall manufacturing costs.
