A leading manufacturer in the precision injection molding industry is seeking a highly experienced Process & Tooling Engineer. POSITION SUMMARY

As the Process & Tooling Engineer, you’ll be the vital link between the design, tooling, and production teams. You’ll play a hands-on role in developing robust, repeatable molding processes and driving improvements in tooling performance, product quality, and departmental efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; concentration in Plastics Engineering is a strong advantage.

  • Experience:
  • 10+ years of experience in injection molding process support
  • Advanced understanding of mold assembly, tool design, and process optimization
  • Expert-level mold setting and troubleshooting knowledge
  • Familiarity with a wide range of thermoplastics and thermoset materials
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working in fast-paced production environments
  • Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks preferred)

Responsibilities
  • Process Development:

Design, implement, and refine injection molding parameters for high-precision electrical components using scientific molding principles.

  • Cross-Departmental Coordination:

Serve as liaison between tooling engineers, toolroom personnel, and production technicians to support seamless transitions from design to production.

  • Root Cause Analysis:

Lead investigations of production non-conformances and implement sustainable solutions.

  • Documentation Ownership:

Create and maintain detailed Methods of Manufacturing (MoM) including setup procedures, key processing notes, and critical tolerances for repeat production.

  • Mold Sampling & Validation:

Conduct mold trials and sample runs to support engineering validation and part approval processes.

  • Troubleshooting & Support:

Provide hands-on troubleshooting for critical jobs during production and ensure issues are addressed promptly.

  • Continuous Improvement:

Contribute ideas and strategies to enhance production efficiency and reduce downtime in the molding department.

  • Process Recordkeeping:

Ensure all process sheets are complete, accurate, and include proper mold protection and setup parameters.
