QUALIFICATIONS YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and 5+ years’ experience in Tool Design, Metrology, and/or Quality Assurance.

QUALIFICATIONS WE PREFER:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks or similar design software.
  • Familiarity with Geometric Dimensional and Tolerancing Standards (ASME Y14.5 or equivalent ISO standards.)
  • Skills in manufacturing operations such as experience with machining components of gas turbine engines.
  • Previous experience with 3-D tooling design.
  • Previous experience with designing heat treating fixtures and calculating the thermodynamic growth of exotic materials.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team in Bridgeport, WV as a Tooling Engineer. In this role, you will work closely with our gauge and tooling inspectors to support the inspection process on our shop floor. To succeed in this role, you must be a leader and willing to accept change and have the capacity to adapt to different situations. The person in this role will be someone with high attention to detail, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities. You will develop methodologies to repair damaged/broken tools as well as tool design to support our engine lines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinating the concept, design, drafting and procurement of disassembly, assembly, test and repair fixturing and close tolerance gauging.
  • Management of Tooling Projects to support entry into service of new engine models and continuous improvement of site tooling (ergo improvement, COPQ reduction, etc.)
  • Coordinate all aspects of tooling project management (liaise with purchasing, production, and management/provide reporting on key projects, etc.)
  • Complete stress analysis of lifting devices to ensure Safety compliance
  • Work with Engineering and Manufacturing for the implementation of tooling and fixturing.
  • Assisting inspectors and machinists in tooling repair development and inspection criteria determination
  • Ensuring cost effective management of facility tooling
  • Well-developed communication, interpersonal, and project skills.
